Millennium Kiln Fire · Unique Craftsmanship

The International Artist Residency Center is the earliest department established by the Letian Pottery Studio in Jingdezhen. Since its inception in 2005, it has hosted thousands of artists from all over the world. The residency center can accommodate up to 12 artists at a time and can arrange residencies according to the artists' creative needs. We provide standardized studios and ceramic equipment, safe and hygienic accommodation, and semi-private workspaces for artists. Staff members will provide visiting artists with innovative city exploration experiences and assist in connecting with local artisans for professional support. The international on-site studio maintains long-term and good cooperative relationships with educational centers and multiple international universities and institutions, including Leksands Folkhogskola (Sweden), Helpmann Academy (Australia), Wesleyan University (USA), The University of Cincinnati (USA), and IASPIS (Sweden)

Jingdezhen Wood-Fired Kiln Studio is an international ceramic community dedicated to promoting the development of ceramic art in China and overseas. It comprises an international resident studio, an education center, a creative market, a Mufeitang exhibition hall, a coffee shop, an art store, and a tool shop. The community connects hundreds of independent ceramic workers and artists, covering all aspects of ceramic production, from clay production, pottery throwing, sculpture, mold making, blue and white decoration, glaze research, public kilns, to brush making.

The art store is a fantastic ceramic house that is definitely worth stopping by, with exquisite displays and high-quality selections. The store showcases Ms. Zheng Yi's representative work "Butterfly Dress" and other creative series, as well as a collection of exquisite works from numerous Jingdezhen artists and independent creators. Each piece carries the warmth and craftsmanship of the artisans. Even if you missed the Saturday creative market, you can still find handmade treasures from Jingdezhen here or in our online store.

Founded by Dr. Zheng Dekun in Cambridge in 1951, it is dedicated to promoting contemporary ceramic art.
The Mufei Library was set up by Dr. Cheng Te Kun in 1951 in Cambridge. The founder of the Pottery Workshop Jingdezhen, Caroline Cheng, grew up in her grandfather's house, surrounded by his wondrous collections of ancient artifacts. As a renowned expert in Chinese Art and Archeology, Caroline Cheng's grandfather guided her to love Chinese ceramics and art. In honor of Dr. Cheng, Caroline Cheng has set up the Mufei Gallery in Jingdezhen to promote contemporary ceramics, and to continue her grandfather's work in research of this art form.

Coffee is served in handmade pottery, and the interior is designed with recycled ceramics. It is open daily.
The Pottery Workshop Cafe serves coffee in handmade pottery and doubles as a gathering and meeting location for all. The interior design has embraced recycled ceramics from our chairs and tables to even the bar counter. We are open everyday to fulfill your needs.

It is worth a visit to the Art Store, located next to The Pottery Workshop Café. It displays a butterfly dress by our Director Caroline Cheng, functional wares, merchandise, antique furniture, etc. made by artists and designers. The outstanding work from the Creative Market are featured in our online and offline art stores.

The exhibition is held every Saturday morning, with approximately 150 young artists selected from over 300 applicants each month.
The Creative Market is held every Saturday morning. About 150 young artists are hand selected from over 300 applicants each month by Caroline Cheng. Every May and October, the Market is featured over several days and includes demonstrations, workshops, live music and open studio visits. We offer market participants opportunities to travel and participate in domestic and international art fairs.
